Guys and Gals, Mike Flory here. I just wanted you to know that little Jimmy Anderson and myself are leading a group to help celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Ft. Bend Challenger Center. It doesn't seem possible it has been that long. The celebration is October 11, 2003. I will let you know more details as they evolve. Our team raised a lot of money for this project from your area.. Many necessary meetings had to be held at the Outpost because of it's wonderful aura. Mike Flory

Nice to hear from you old "U-Joint" folks. Karla, I'd thought you'd have been gone years ago. And Gregg, "cigarman".....wow, glad to hear the old pewter-muggers still survive, after all these years. Didn't you have a girl friend named Donna? All I remember is she was way too good for you. Ha. And Punkie....wonder where she is these days? These days are okay, but those were "the good ol' days" fer sher!! Sure miss all you "muggers".

acglines (?) wrote on 6/15/01 that "What a great place! But then it's not the same without John L., Herschel P. and Greg P., A. G." I resemble that remark, most likely! The tales I can relate no one would believe! Geez - an indoor bathroom nowdays, that works? Think I kept Terry in business from about 1969-76 (also with the fair sex friends and a later wife). The northwest corner of the bar (wall) had my name on it! Don't recall the name acglines though. Anyone still have a 'peweter tankard' with their name on it? Mine is in my hand now, says "Fort Terry The Universal Joint 'Cigarman' Gregg Price", in a circle with a star in the center. Anyone still around from Univac/FSD CCATS up the street on El Camino Real? Should visit the old joint some time, live in Beaumont. For any oldsters, Gregg Price bgprice@datarecall.net .

T Bone you better just stay where you are now. NASA area is not ready for us again and the party's now are good but would never hold a candle to the real splash down 3 day events of yesteyear. If we held the partys like in the old days we would all be in jail and they would throw away the key!The memories live on and those I will hang on to.

Hey Withrow, you sorry ol' piece of dried up compost, I can't believe you're still kickin' around. I ain't so sure I still "live" at the Outpost, but I think at least the ol' "U-Joint" still does. Maybe 22 years later now, we could buy it and bring the "good-ol'-days" back to the "gotta-get-better" days of today. What do you think?

I can't believe the old Ujoint (Terry Bone) still lives as the "Outpost" as I was one of the original owners of the property "reserve C" Ray Withrow/Pete Wright in the 60's&70's--Can't forget all the splash down partys and good friends and good memories

Long live the Outpost. Within its' walls are the stories that will never see print. But if you come to its humble structure, you'll hear those stories. Just look around and open your heart. The past will come alive.

Friends -

Could it be true that I could be the first to sign the guestbook for the Outpost web site?

Any nostalgic musings should be left for those with a deeper connection to the Outpost than I, but I will pay tribute to Gene Ross. He was a colorful character and really contributed to the spirit of the area.

The Clear Lake area, and many of us, will be defined by the well-known people that have lived here. People like Gene Ross have also greatly contributed to the environment, it is just that they contributed with the gifts (congeniality, hospitality) that they were given.

Sometimes it is better to be real nice than to be real smart (you did watch the movie "Harvey", right?).

Gene is probably up there sharing a cold one with a person whose name we would all recognize. We won't forget you, Gene.

Charles Phillips
